do u want (to be) an amusing truck?
it's the last day of my takashimaya job today. made a decision to leave despite the good working environment and good pay. the feeling today was bittersweet, i guess. bitter coz this job turns out to be a rather enriching and interesting one. my collegues were all very nice ppl and i've learnt a lot. there were days when i had to work like siao (cashier) and other times when i just slack the whole day. but sweet coz there's still so many things to try out!
customers are simultaneously our best friend and our greatest agony. well, when the $$ they spend becomes ur pay, who else is ur best friend? so customers always get their way. even though they're being freaking irritating and unreasonable. like this:
1) there was this american chinese who wanted her toy tested. it's some kinda TV game console, which u have to plug into the tv to play. sometimes it doesn't work becoz the testing battery is low or the product is faulty (it's made in china, what do u expect?). it takes quite some time to open and test it. she was unlucky to get one that was faulty and so we had to open two for her. she was being such a freaking bitch throughout the time taken for testing lah! complaining and complaining. i still remember wad she said.
"why is it taking so long? imagine if there are 10 ppl in front of me. in america, they give gift certificates so that the recipients can go to the mall to collect their gifts. why can't u test all the toys before putting them on the shelves? i wanna speak to ur manager !!(x3)"bloody hell! if america is so great then don bother stepping into puny s'pore la. go fuss around in america and don get ur toys tested anymore! wah cow! if we test all the toys before displaying them, then there'll be no one left to collect ur freaking stupid money! i'm getting so angry just thinking back of this incident.
in the end, we got our dear supervisor who was so super in dealing with this kinda customer. he spoke really tactfully. *respect*
2) this couple wanted their huge robot tested. it needs 4 batt on the back, 2 for each leg and 3 for the remote. i tested one and it didn't work properly. so i took another and tested it again. it worked fine. turns out, the bloody couple changed their mind and exchanged it for another toy. they tot it was too troublesome. u noe wad's the sample for? wth!
3) this woman, with 2 girls, was paying for a cheap toy that cost less than $5. i think the younger daughter wanted it but the mom don wanna buy it. but she still went to the counter, had it scanned but refuse to pay.
all this time she was saying to the girl, "mummy don wanna buy it, you're the one that wanted it.... wad did u do with ur savings? why did u spend ur savings?..." she was, i donno, jeering the small girl for a whole minute at the cashier counter. the girl was bloody crying, mind you. in betweeen sobs she was saying she has no $$. wad a fucking bitch! if u wanna lecture ur kid, pls don do it in public. and why jeer her like that? which kid brings $$ when their out wid their parents? i was so close to raising my hand across the counter and slapping her face! she is rich summore - manicured nails, nice clothes and make-up and holding a Guess bag. in the end her elder daughter paid. i pity the girls.
but there were some outstanding-ly nice customers. there was this ang moh who address me by my name throughout the whole transaction process. every sentence she said begins with my name! but her accent made it sounded hilarious. like "zi hue" or something simliar. freaking funny. but i don mind coz ang mohs are much more friendly. plus they smile! =)
lastly, everyone shld really listen to the announcements. "the store is closing in 10 mins..." means it is really closing in 10 mins. not close to other customers and let u shop exclusively. some deaf costomers really don care and continue shopping slowly. in the end, closing time at 9.30pm becomes 10pm. our dept is always the last one to report to the accounts dept. after u pay we still have to take quite some time to close the cashier counter le! if u don wanna go home, we do!
i'm tired. time for a well-deserved break. that gives me time to focus on my BTT and attend all the other gatherings coming up (yayness!).
