first day of work
i'm eating my dinner as i type this entry. hope i don spill porridge all over the keyboard.
today was my first day of work. i'm working as a retail assistant at Takashimaya. the first half of the day was a complete waste of time. reported to work at 9am. then the HR in-charge took some time to issue us our uniform and tags and card and million other stuff. then there was a short briefing which we had to wait quite long for. and then there was the stupidly long wait when our supervisors took like a million years to take the individual temp-workers down to their respective departments. don ask me y the hell they took so long. everyone was bloody pissed. the worse thing was that the people who reported for afternoon shift got to start work before us!! wtf. but i guess we had to cut the HR some slack. they're pretty chaotic.
there was this time when a man came to look for the HR in-charge and started complaining that she had to sent his son away coz he had dyed hair. dyed hair is a strict no-no in taka. apparently, the guy was a part-time model, so dyed hair is a norm. well, everyone who heard his racket was left wondering why the hell would u have ur dad come all the way to taka early in the morn to complain about such stuff? what bout the guy himself? what a sissy-pok.
besides that, the ppl that came in with me are quite nice. although some are a bit spoilt and bimbo-y. i'm glad i don have to interact much with them coz we work in diff dept. i guess they're still ok to talk to. and there was this sec4 girl that is overly cute (for me); she calls me 'jie jie'. OMG. btw, like 95% of them are younger than me la! most are 16 or 17. there are bout 2 15yr old girls. oh my, where was i at that age? oh wait, cooped up with endless CCA commitments. i nv thought bout working then. haha!!
ok, now comes the fun part. the dept i was allocated to is the toys dept. the freaking supervisor came to pick us at 3pm. wad the hell. that means i spend 6hrs (more than half the day) rotting at the HR office. and coz the cashiering jobs were full, i get to do toy testing. wah lao, damn fun lah! the customers will purchase toys and if they want them tested, we'll open the box, and slot in batteries to see if they work. so it was like play time for us. but it can be quite scary when the customer looks at u while u open the box and slot in batt. the worst bit is that if it can't work, it's either the toy is really spoilt (which is unlikely coz it's new) or you have no childhood.
well, i'm done with my porridge, with not a drop on the keyboard. wonderful. tml is off to work again. i can get use to this. =D
