you've experienced first class on air, now experience it on land
i had an eye-opening experience today! as part of studying in a business course specialising in tourism, we get to go kai-kai! so, bout 20 of us went for a field trip to Crowe Plaza Changi Airport for a site visit today. even though the whole excursion was only two hours plus, we really had a chance to see, hear, smell, feel and learn a lot.
the tour started with a corporate presentation by the GM of crowne plaza. yep, GM! mega VIP, British + british accent + british humour and all. he was telling us bout the history and strategies of CP. the content was very related to wad we studied in tourism, marketing and OB courses, tt what i liked bout biz, it's so visible in real life situations everywhere. and of coz, there's nice food and smiley staff to serve us.
next is the much anticipated tour of the hotel. i've finally figured out why i love hotels and airports so much. maybe it's just changi airport amongst the other airports only. but it seems like they are able to seamlessly knit all features together to create this open concept with no sight of the end walls and perception of unlimited space. call me claustophobic but i think everyone is one to some degree. plus all the greenery and architecture emphasizing on arts, curves and smooth transitions really relaxes one's senses. hence, the tour of the hotel is really like a chance for us kids to explore a new playground. we're all touching and oo-ing and aah-ing at every intricate details of the rooms, gym, pool, lounges, restaurants, front office etc. it's really interesting how they can seem to make use of every single space to weave a theme that the hotel wants to protray.
all in all, it was a super entertaining site visit which totally change our perception of the CP as a airport hotel. it's not just a typical airport hotel, but rather a praise-worthy hotel near the airport.
and of coz, pictures!
