loading and unloading bays
March 2009 has been a hell month for me. i think this is the worst that i've ever had throughout the 4 semesters in university. it's not only me le. turns out the whole of THM had it bad this sem.. plus there was a million and one other things to do during the month too. i need a list to throw everything into place!
1. projs
the number of projs we had this sem is like OMFG... 3 (2small, 1big) for BT203. 1 major one for AA102. 1 major one, 2 assignments, 3 group discussion qns report + presentation for BT202. omg i have no idea how the double spec ppl who are doing HR or MKTG together with THM cope with their workload ah.. must be crazy. there was this period of time from start of March to the 20th+ that i was working non-stop everyday. it'll be lessons on the usual timings, then proj meeting for BT202 or BT203 after that till 5/6pm. then it'll be AA102 meeting till late, like 1-2am! my AA102 grp mates (the 3 gay buddies plus me) will camp in some freezing cold room and edit/refine the report over and over again. type crap, find references to back up the crap, discuss if the crap can be used for smoking, discuss crappy stuff.. till like we have totally no more energy to work. then we'll drag our sorry asses to macdonalds and eat and go back and concuss. this routine lasted for 1-2 weeks (not everyday! but enough to tire me like shit) then the routine will start again the next day. ok i admit the meetings were quite fun and damn stupid, tt y we can take so long..
the ultimate sad case was last monday when THM ppl occupied a whole quarter of the reading room right after our lesson ended. everyone was in their individual groups chionging BT203 and/or BT202.
and the assignment for BT202! 2 assignments of 4-5 essays each. wtf. ok i'm working on assignment 2 now and it isn't so bad coz there is a page limit of 2 per essay and the calculation part isn't hard. but there was no freaking page limit for the 5 essays in assignment 1! so judging from the competition in THM, everyone thinks everyone will just spoil e market and write till gao gao. and turns out it was true, like some adam smith's economics invisible hand theory, where everyone hands in a thick, binded booklet. and the deadline for assignment 2 is on the 13th and exams starts on the 14th! argh!
i'll be thinking or working on proj anytime of the day. the times when i was not working on the laptop would be travelling, eating, bathing or sleeping times and the times when i was not thinking would be sleeping. how chui... the stress and the huge to-do list will be the last thing that i think of when i sleep and the thing tat will wake me up in the morning. it was just physically n mentally exhausting.
2. tests and quizzes
ok not a lot this semester but still a huge percentage of the final grade will be based on the test. like 20% for AA102, 20% for PAP802 and f*ing 40% on CS119.summore the test for AA102 was at like freaking 7pm and ended at 9.30pm. ON FRIDAY NIGHT. one of the saddest night i ever had. and the results of the quizzes weren't very good also. PAP802's just hit the average mark coz i haven been doing physics for damn long and i skipped a few lectures. but CS119 is just so disappointing that i immediately SU-ed the subject after seeing the mark for that test.
latest update for the AA102 test: excel test average was B- (!) and the MCQ test average was C+ (!!!) god help us all!!
3. 21st bday
ok this is a good thing but too much of a good thing can be bad too. time consuming coz it takes up the whole night and too many parties at one go is just tiring and not tt fun anymore.
most memorable party: Qiu Ting's where i went with my BT203 proj group mates. after all the present giving and food eating and setting down, the laptop came up and the proj discussion starts. like OMG!! tt is how time-pressed.. no.. efficient we can be.
craziest party: Joanne's one with the party's pre-party at AHS where we did all the stupid stuff like footdrill and pumping and cam-whoring in dresses and heels. but of coz, the opportunity to gather is the best part. with the SJAB girls ah.. the noise is incredible.
4. internship
omg! internship just turns out to be a MEGA bitch this year. i dono if i shld blame myself for not self-sourcing hard enough or blame the school for not having good internship opportunities or blame the economy for lack of companies hiring cheap labour. everyone says that when the economy is down, the companies will hire interns coz we are cheap and smart labour who are willing to work our ass off. well, that isn't true cos the companies that are available are so chui. and the no of hotels is so so low, plus irritating Four Seasons pulled out of our internship prog. so of coz the damn smart and damn zai ppl gets the spots. and i think i'm quite unlucky too. phase 2 was really down to luck for the computer system to randomly allocate spots to us. and i didn't get it. DAMN unlucky. it was pretty upsetting when a stupid pop-up msg "You are not allocated to a company of your choice" came up 2 Fridays ago when the long-awaited phase 2 results were released. plus my team mates were around me and they all had a spot secured (whether they got totally excited over the company, that they were allocated to, is another matter) and then the only companies left in the 1st-come-1st-serve phrase 3 were like People's Association (woodlands and nee soon and some far-flung branches) chui...
now ppl like me and wenni and meihua are like writing CVs every other day to send to the career services and hope tat the companies will reply soon.
oh my, i do hope that not getting the companies in phase 2 or 3 was a blessing in disguise. i wouldn't want to do my PA in People's association. not coz they are of some low level being, but coz i seriously doubt i can learn anything useful from doing grassroot, constituancy-related jobs. and i do hope i do not end up doing some data entry work which will then bore me to bits and the peanuts pay will not motivate me at all! wad happen to me dream of working in the hotel... i really do hope i end up with something good. MEGA sigh...
and when i'm stress, the online purchases start coming in. hai. in 2 wks, packages for 2 necklace, 1 earring, 2 tops and 1 dress arrived. my mom nags (even though she says the clothes are nice). even i disapprove of myself. hai... DBS iBanking shld be made the 8th sin
ok but out of all the things that have happened that month, some things turn out to be good. like all the gatherings that we had (planned or unplanned) were kinda stress relieving.
and of coz, march 28 could be the start of something new :)
now everything has pretty much slowed down to a hoo-hum.. exam seating arrangements are out and the project checklist are slowly getting shorter (and will officially disappear on the 13th of apr). allow me one more chance to bitch: my exams starts on the 1st day of the exam period and ends on the last day. WTF.. i'll see the hall study room slowly gets filled up with people and slowly empties as well as ppl taste freedom before i do. HOW chui...
i can't wait for KRABI. sun sand and sea! omg...
