Wikipedia is the greatest invention of the 21st century!

Yay! i've been blogging quite often. shows how slack i am. well, that's a good thing!

In the light of the impending graduation, mei hua posted this link

It's yet another genius commencement speech. A short summary, "The Binghamton University Events Center was filled with laughter provided by undergraduate Anthony Corvino, a bachelors degree candidate in political science, chosen to deliver the undergraduate student commencement remarks.Corvino championed the "average" individuals out there, who aren't often in the limelight, unlike their genius fellow students. The political science major thanked his "average" mom for always sending him a package of Swedish Fish and Sour Patch Kids on Halloween, and he proclaimed his opinion that Wikipedia is the greatest innovation ever. He then urged fellow graduates to thank those who helped them get to this point in their life.He also told his compatriots that while they may be "average," that doesn't mean they can't have an effect on the world and others."You aren't given opportunity," Corvino said. "You fight for it." "

So much for the GPA rat race, cut throat class participation and presentation stunts. Finally, someone is appreciating the average. it leaves us a lot to ponder about the crazy race that we've been all our lives, no thanks to the Singapore education system. I like being average. what's wrong with being average? average is cool and fine and absolutely not life threatening. Sure, the ones that are exceptional may be getting the job first, getting the attention of the school and getting priority entry and stuff. and sure, everyone would rather choose to be the prettiest, smartest, funniest, strongest, fastest and most talented diamond in the rough. But after so many years of battling, i feel that after one have gave his/her best, if the outcome is average, so be it. I may be average in the eyes of the world, but there will definitely be someone who would appreciate the best that I can do - including myself. No point kicking myself for not doing this or coming up with that at that point of time, if I would have thought of it then, then I would have done so then. It's time I try to step back, look at the bigger picture, and count my blessings. And that is all that matters in living my life without regret.

Average to me is:
1. Being able to leave a tutorial half done and rushing to complete it the next day under the table or smoking crap openly
2. Being able to say "Heck la!" when debating whether to completely change/delete/add a new point into an essay or report after i've finish it
3. Being able to say i have taken the recommended AUs for the semester and not planning to overload at all (repeat: AT ALL!)
4. Being able to wake up at 10.15am for a 10.30am lesson, taking a look at the clock and then messaging frens that i'm nt gg to lesson, and concussing back to sleep. after all, i don need 100% attendance, i just need to meet the minimum 80%.
5. Being able to skip something because i "just don feel like it"
6. Being able to whine that life is unfair and not get eyes rolling at me
7. Being able to roll my eyes, tell people to stop whining and suck it up
8. Being able get really good stuff and half celebrate and half wondering if I deserve it
9. Being able to fail at something others did ok/excel in and feeling ok about it
and finally, 10. Being able to not chase after every single chance and feeling ok about it.

Yes, average is really ok.
